Plateau State Commissioner for Water and Energy Idi Waziri said additional work is needed to ensure standard in the Yelwa Club and Rabin Du pond under construction, the commissioner stated this while on an inspection visit of the project site in Jos South LGA.
The Yelwa club and Rabin Du projects were contracted to Bodawet Nig. Ltd in December 2012 to provide adequate water supply to citizens of Bukuru and Du. According to the Commissioner the inspection visit is aimed at ensuring that the work is done according to time frame and specified standard.
At the Yelwa Club pond Waziri advised the contractor to discharge the water in the pond so that the work can be completed in record time, he stressed that part of the pond which is only 36 feet should be deepened to reach the other part which is 42 feet deep, at the Rabin Du twin pond, the Commissioner was told that drainage will be constructed round the two ponds so as to merge them into one.
According to the contractor Yaro Davou, this is to allow only 3 inlets, control erosion and overflowing, Davou Said the only challenge facing them is lack of time and inadequate funds.
