Plateau State Local Government Chairmen have been advised to provide the needed democratic dividend to people at the grassroots. Member representing Pankshin, Kanke and Kanam at the National assembly, Emmanuel Goar, stated this during a congratulatory visit on chairmen of Kanke and Kanam in their offices.
The lawmaker while congratulating the chairmen on the success at the last elections said elected representatives should give account of their stewardship to the electorates. According to Emmanuel Goar, for the masses to have a sense of belonging, the chairmen must identify their needs with the aim of alleviating them and urged people to support their leaders to enable them meet their needs. He stressed that the Redemption II Government of Gov. Jonah Jang has done well for the people of the state and the need for the people to complement such efforts.
In their separate remarks, Chairman of Kanke LGA John Gotau, and his Kanam counterpart Ado Yusuf through his deputy Umar Yakubu described the visit as first of its kind and assured of their support and corporation.
The member seized the opportunity to visit the legislative arms of the two local governments where leaders of the legislative arm, Ahmed Saidu, and the majority leader of Kanke, Godwin Gotus said the visit has encouraged them to legislate for the benefit of the people and called for Closer Corporation. Earlier the lawmaker was at the palace of the Emir of Kanam, Babangida Mu’azu who through the Darimin Kanam, Alhaji Salisu appreciated the lawmaker for the visit and assured of his prayers at all times.
