Shendam, Wase and Langtang South sets up a joint security committee

A 15 man peace and security committee has been set up to investigate and bring out a lasting solution to insecurity and peace in the southern part of Plateau State. The committee was set up following a resolution arrived at during a security/stake holders meeting, comprising stakeholders from Shendam ,Wase and Langtang South Local Government Areas.

The zonal security and stake holders meeting held in Mabudi, Langtang South is the second of its kind drawing participants from the Christian Association of Nigeria CAN, Jama’atul Nasir Islam JNI, security outfits, traditional rulers, youth leaders, chairmen and secretaries of the 3 local government areas in attendance.

Inaugurating the 15 man committee on peace and security, 5 each from the 3 local government areas, Langatng South local Government Chairman Nicholas Vongsing urged them to accord the assignment with high priority.

Responding on behalf of the members the Miskoom of Shendam, Miskoom Matthew said they promised to do their best and maintained that security is every body’s business. With the review of the security reports in Langtang South, Wase and Shendam by the respective divisional police officers, stake holders brainstorm on cattle rustling, arm robbery, snatching of Motor cycles, assassinations and abductions.

The Interim Committee Chairman of Wase, Dr. Ado Buba and his Shendam counterpart Alexander Na’antuam also gave their view.
