The Da Gwom Rei of Barkin Ladi, Da Edward Bot called on those yet to return home after unknown gunmen attacked their villages to come back home saying peace is gradually returned. At a combined Church service held at COCIN LCC Robuk to celebrate the return of peace in the communities, the Da Gwom Rei while appreciating the support rendered to the people by Government at all levels, individuals and groups, called on the people to remain calm and be careful at all times.
It would be recalled that in May this year communities in Barkin Local Government Area suffered attacks by unknown gunmen which led to the killing of many as well as the destruction of houses and properties which in turn left survivors without option than to run to neighboring communities for safety.
Six months after and with the return of peace, the combined Church Service created an opportunity for the people to meet again as they exchanged pleasantries while appreciating God for sparing their lives. Though many have returned with others showing interest in doing same, the greatest challenge that lies ahead is that most of the houses are yet to be reconstructed.
The Traditional ruler appealed to the Federal Government to put in place measures to resettle the victims as it is being done in the North-East. Delivering the sermon, Reverend in-charge of LCC Robuk, Daniel Dimka advised the people not to be deterred by their present situation but remain firm and have faith in God. Highlights were prayers for the repulse of the souls of those killed for the peace of the land and those in leadership positions.
