The Plateau State Ministry of Health has presented 2 ambulances to Riyom and Kanke LGAs as a means of boosting Maternal Health Delivery. Commissioner of Health Dr. Kunden Kamshak alongside the Permanent Secretary and Directors of the Ministry made the presentation at the ministry’s head quarters Joseph Gomwalk secretariat Jos.
The ambulances were donated by the National Health Development Agency, base on National demographic health survey of 2013 which reveals that Nigeria contributes 10% of global under 5 death annually, 30% neonatal maternal rate and approximately 3050,00 women are estimated to die from preventable complications related to pregnancy and child’s birth. In view of that, the national Chairman Primary Health Care Development Agency donated 2 ambulances to each of the 36 state of the Federation.
Here in Plateau state, Kanke and Riyom Local Government areas were selected as beneficiaries of the national gesture. Making the presentation, Commissioner of Health Dr.Kunden Kamshak appreciated efforts of the Federal Government in improving maternal new born and child medications and facilities, the Commissioner urge the benefiting Local Governments to abide strictly to the conditions of the use.
Zonal technical officer National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health, Habilla Gotau and the Director of the Primary Health Care and the Ministry of Local Government and Women Affairs, Musa Maidawa emphasis on the need to apply principles of maintenance and proper use and purpose the ambulance were presented for.
Reproductive health coordinator of the Ministry, Hanatu Dung read out the conditions of the use. Management committee chairman of Kangk, Panshak Yohanna responded on behalf of beneficiaries.
