The 2016 Arm forces Remembrance Day and emblem appeal week in Pankshin LGA was a call for deep reflection to improve the well being of families of falling hero’s in the locality. The ceremony which was held at the Nefur Arena and also observed all over the country held attracted dignities and widows of falling heroes.
The day which was set aside to remember veterans who fought selflessly for peace and security the world over featured parade and gun salute.
The Management Committee Chairman of Pankshin LGA, Steven Jings in his speech said the role Nigerian Armed Forces played in bringing an end to the Nigerian Civil and world wars is outstanding, Jings equally appealled to the crowd that gather to celebrate the role of the arm forces in peace keeping not to relent in helping the falling heroes and their families adding that Government along cannot meet with the demands of the Nigeria legions and called on public spirited individuals and organizations to assist in alleviating their plights.
Acting Chairman Nigeria legion, Pankshin area council Nde Joshua Churgak commended the Nigerian Government for being sympathetic to the legion and solicited for prayers and support for all especially towards personnel fighting insurgency in the north eastern part of the country.
Good will messages and encouragements came from the security heads in the locality, including the representatives of traditional rulers, Mr Monday Gokum.
The event feature a playlet by widows and wives of the legionnaires and a march pass. Chairman of Pankshin LGA donated the sum of 100,000 in support of the emblem luanch.
