Open letter to Governor Lalong on plans to make Hausa Fulani indigenes of Plateau State

In our opinion forum this week, we copied an open letter on facebook written by Gideon Rotgak Musa to Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State on the alleged plan by the Governor to award indigeneship to the Hausa/Fulani Community residing in Jos North LGA, a claim some quarters are taking serious.

COPIED FROM FACEBOOK

AN OPEN LETTER TO GOVERNOR BAKO LALONG OF PLATEAU STATE.

Sire, this is to call your attention on the issue of giving, Fulani/Hausa indigenship in Jos North LGA. If u really love Plateau, you will never think of such issue because it will only bring war to Plateau people. Hausa/Fulanis are never indigenes of this State; they are only settlers NOT indigenes.
Let me tell you the truth, if u give any settler indegenship, you must also give all the settlers including, Igbos and Yorubas.
I have a question to ask; can Ngas, Berom, Goemai, Tarok or any tribe in Plateau become indigenes in any Hausa/Fulani State???.

Can they give you the Governor indegenship in Sokoto, Zamfara or Kano?

Please Sire, you should be careful with what you do or who you nominate in the state
Thank u sire.

I remain loyal sire

Gideon Rotgak Musa

  1. In my opinion, I think Governor Lalong will be taking the WRONG TURN if he holds onto such decision of giving indigenship to Hausa/Fulani in Jos North.
Wrong turns always lead to DESTRUCTION.

  2. musa most be arrest, this not an open letter it is threats letter to the plateau state governor and peace loving Hausa /Fulani indigenous of plateau

  3. The writer I guess was sponsored to do that. Hatred campaign against 2019. That is not the kind of prayer Plateau people needed now, we need peace n Unity, ur indigenous claim is not what will make Plateau succeed but ur prayers. May God have mercy on us all.

  4. the question i want to ask you gideon is berom are not first people to settle in jos. the first pefple to settle in jos are hausa people and to remined you i am bogghom by tribe.

    1. Mister man are you confuse? If u settle in a place first does it make u the owner or an indegine? Or can u now go to kano as a bogom man u claim and be an indegine? If u dnt understnd what is on ground then asked.

  5. To start with, I must unequivocally condemn this piece and its author, bcs it’s aimed at nothing other than hatching hatred and distrust among the future generations. The author might be a teenager, but for most of us who were grown up around the mid 90s, we knew that Jos and Plateau State had been in PEACE, with the so-called indigenes and settlers living in mutual understanding and respect.
Unfortunately, it’s the return to ‘demo-crazy’ that fuelled the suspicion and ‘THEORY OF DOMINATION’, which split Plateau and Jos along religious lines.
If governments at all level will be sincere, this issue should have long been dealt with; since indigeneship is either by birth, or by naturalisation. Don’t think that I’m claiming Jos, not at all-my link with Jos is that it’s in Jos I spent most of my life, and nothing more than that.
ON ISSUES OF THIS NATURE, ALWAYS TRY AND MINIMIZE THE NUMBER OF ENEMIES YOU HAVE: IT’S UNHEALTHY FOR YOU TO PUBLICIZE THIS PIECE, BECAUSE BY SO DOING, YOU ARE CREATING PROBLEM TO YOURSELF AND TO THE PEACE-LOVING AND HOSPITABLE PEOPLE AMONG THE TRIBES ON THE PLATEAU. DON’T YOU THINK YOUR ATTITUDE CAN MAKE PEOPLE LIKE ME, WHEN MET AT ANY FEDERAL GOVERNMENT PARASTATAL TO TREAT YOU BADLY??????
Let’s assume you have an office now, will you continue in the office for the next 100years?????? What do you think will happen to your offsprings and kinsmen when you meet one of those you label as settlers, boko haram, etc in a position that you badly need their assistance to scale through???????

    1. Its only God that will bless you my brother for your kind understanding and your words of unity, infact, you’re the kind of person that the society need regardless of religion, tribe or ethnicity.thank you once more, one love my brother.

  6. How come is always about hausa fulani and not Igbo, Yoruba or other settlers on the plateau? I think when govt.decide to take one arm and make it famous living others out then the broblem is with the govt not what others say. Because pple will always say what their brains can give them or selfish minds can imagine.

  7. If Hausa/Fulani are indegenes of Jos north, then were is there ancestral land? Kanam and Wase LGA are not hausas. A Hausa man will come to Jos within one month, and will start claiming Jos North.
Plateau people let be wise, this people are applying political jihad on us.

  8. Oh what a piety to the plateau of our dream. How can you give a hausa fulanis indigenship it cnt happen when we the mwaghavul settlers of kaduna state are also being denied of indigenship in zaria local government.

  9. Kamilu, or wht yu call yaself. Hw dear yu address hausa/fulani as “peaceful loving indigenes of plateau”. Where is yur root in plateau? Can yu or any of yur Hausa/fulani fellas show me where yur grand, great grandfathers’ graves are any where here in plateau? If really yu ar indigenes, why talking of granting yu indigeneship. I don’t think there is any need for tht, becos yu have already been. Kamilu or whatever yu call yaself, I advice tht yu and ya fellas go look for where ya all come frm, or yu remain settlers, or better stll, (IDPs, if tht is qualified to be used in ths context) in plateau state.

  10. Plateau people wake-up from ur slumber. you guys are talking of peace, you will know no peace with this people called hausa/fulani.i pray ur eyes will open before its too late.
