Search for Common Ground Celebrates Peace on the Plateau

The Vice President of Search for Common Ground (SFCG) from Washington DC Ms Lena Slachmuijlder has charged Nigerian Government at all level to key in to the peace building effort initiated in the Country by its organization in achieving a lasting peace in the Country. Ms Lena disclosed this during the Celebration of Peace achieved in Plateau State and organized by Search for Common Ground (SFCG) in Jos-South Local Government Area of the State.

According to her, the achievement seen in the State in the area of peace building by Search for Common Ground (SFCG) is what has been achieved by same organization in Lebanon, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Pakistan through the implementation of its action plans.

The Vice President stresses that dialogue remained the best in achieving a peaceful society than investing in Bombs, wars or even killing perpetrators cannot bring lasting peace adding that they are determined to reach out with their operations to the Northeastern part of the Country.

The Council Chairman of Jos-South Local Government Area Hon. Augustine Pwakim while appreciating their contributions in the area of peace maintained that peace and Security remain the cardinal point of this administration and they would not relent in supporting every peace effort in the State.

He described the NGO as being in the fore front of peace building efforts in his locality and the State at large. The Country Project Coordinator Mrs. Lantana Abdullahi said the organization has been operating in Plateau State since 2010 and has embarked on monthly Peace Architectural Dialogue meetings, training of young people in the area of peace building which has break the jinx of religion and tribal sentiments in State, bringing about a robust Community integration.
