PLHA set up a committee to look into federal employment for Plateau indigenes in the state

A 6 men special committee has been set up by the Plateau State House of Assembly to ensure that Federal establishments in the state uphold the principles of federal character when employing workers. This action was as a result of a motion by the house committee chairman on judiciary and member representing Jos East constituency, Joshua Madaki calling on Federal establishments in the state to abide by the principles of Federal character.

Giving an inside on the motion, Joshua Madaki noted that most Federal establishments are not abiding by the principle of the Federal character in their employment process as provided in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he added that since the state has Federal representatives, there is need of collaboration between the Legislators, State and the establishments so that the state interest particularly in junior employment is captured.

The motion drew contributions and observations from members attributing lack of political will in the past administration to address the issue and stress the need for the house to create interface with the Federal establishments for a way forward. They also noted that the state Government should have a database of all junior workers under the Federal Government establishments.
