PLHA requested a sign language translator in the chamber to carry the physically challenged along

Plateau state house of assembly wants the state ministry education to send someone with the knowledge of signed language to translate the presiding to persons with hearing impairment. This was the resolution on the motion brought by the member representing Jos East constituency, Hon Joshua Madaki. According to the mover of the motion, as representatives of the people they have the responsibility to ensured everybody’s interest is giving due consideration, it is the only way democracy will work.

The motion attracted support from other members who said as the first House to pioneer the passage of disability right law, they should be seen promoting their right on what is going on around them.

Other law makers noted that not only the hearing impaired that are deprived but most rural areas in the state do not received signal from the electronic media.

They called on Government to look in to the matter. After the deliberation Speaker of the house Peter Azi who presided over the day sitting read out the resolution of the house.
