Governor Simon Lalong has assured the Plateau people of prudent utilization of the N10b infrastructure funds recently assessed from the Federal Government. Lalong gave the assurance when he commenced on the spot assessment of ongoing new road projects as well as other infrastructures in the state.
First point of call of Governor Simon Lalong was the 31 kms Jos-Maza road costing over N4.9b, briefing the Governor on the project, permanent secretary ministry of works Sunday Hyat said with the current mobilization by the State Government, the contractor is billed to complete the first 10kms of the road project with 2 bridges before May 29th this year.
The Governor then proceeds to the Zaria road stadium where he was taken round the stadium by the state Commissioner for Housing and Development Sam Galadima. Lalong stressed that the rescue administration has keen interest in completing the stadium considering the benefits thereof. The Contractor, Samuel Jatau explained that most of the roofing materials are on ground except the floor finishing which are now very expensive in the market because of the rise in dollar rates.
Governor Lalong assured of commitment to complete the project and promise to look into the issues of engorgement and insecurity poised on the facility by neighboring communities.
The Governor then proceeded to the secretariat junction fly over bridge and the 6 lane carriage way from British-American junction to Mararaban Jama’a awarded to PW Nig. Ltd at the cost of N10.5b of which N5.5b has been paid to the contractor including the N1.7b recently advanced by the rescue administration.
Sunday Hyat disclosed that the State Governor intervened in 4 road projects belonging to the Federal Government to the tune of over N20b with only about N1.2 released to the Plateau State Government through the President’s approval leaving a balance of over N18.8 b. The contractor PW Nig. LTD assured the Government of finishing the road between the fly over at secretariat junction and the Angul D before May 29th.
Lalong also visited 8.4 kms Miango junction road to wild life park and the 10kms state Lowcost- Rantiya road network awarded at the cost of over N1b and sums up his opinion at the visit. He called for patience and cooperation from the Plateau people in order to deliver their mandate giving to him. The Governor will be proceeding to the Southern and Central zone of the Plateau State to inspect more projects recently awarded.
