Plateau State University Bokkos has matriculated her first set of students after obtaining accreditation from the National University Commission (NUC) for the 2015/2016 academic year.
The University matriculated newly admitted students into the faculty of Art, Social Science, Management Science, Natural/Applied Sciences at a ceremony held at the school’s main campus in Bokkos.
The Vice Chancellor Prof. Doknan Sheni said, the University gave admission to 744 students out of the 3,724 applicants for the 2015/ 2016 academic year following the increase in the carrying capacity from 1000 to 1150 this year by the National University Commission and the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
According to Prof. Sheni “With the accreditation of 17 programs in the University, our graduates can now go for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)”, he further said “as a State owned Institution, we are determined to admit the best brains across the Country, being parity in admission process”.
He said the university’s sponsorship policy of admission is still to include at least 10 indigenous candidates from each Local Government Council of the State and expects the Chairmen of the 17 Local Government Council to identify with underprivileged students and send the list to the Vice-Chancellor for admission
The Vice Chancellor thanked the National University Commission (NUC) and Governor Simon Lalong for putting the Institution in the line of history again. He also thanked parents and guardians of the students for given their children a future warning the newly matriculated students to shun cultism, exam malpractice and any act of indiscipline in the Institution.
