The 12th Governing Council of the University of Jos has approved the appointment of a new Vice-Chancellor for the University. He is Professor Sebastian Seddi Maimako who is the Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences, University of Jos.
This follows the Council’s consideration of the recommendation of its Selection Board at its Special Meeting held on Friday 22nd April, 2016. His appointment will take effect from 23rd June,2016.
The appointment is for a single term of five (5} years. A Professor of Accounting and Finance, Sebastian Maimako has held several administrative positions in the University including Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences, Deputy Dean, Faculty
of Management Sciences, Deputy Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Head, Acting Head,
Department of Management Sciences, all in the University of Jos. A 1987 graduate of Management Studies from the University of Jos, Professor Maimako, 54, took up appointment with University of Jos in 1989 as a Graduate Assistant. He was promoted
to the rank of Professor in 2010 and appointed Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences on 1st April, 2015. Professor Maimako obtained a Masters Degree in Business Administration in 1992 and bagged a PhD Degree in Management
in 2006. He has authored and collaborated in the publication of many academic works especially in the field of Accounting and Finance and has attended many national and international Conferences.
Professor Maimako is the Chairman, Plateau State Economic and Finance Advisory Council (Economic Team] and was an Honorary Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Plateau State from November 2003 to November 2006.
Professor Sebastian Maimako is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN] and Associate member Institute of
Certified Public Accountants of Nigeria (ICPAN] He is happily married to his heart throb, Mrs Lucy Maimako and are blessed with five children.
