Two policemen involved in an accident in Lalong’s convoy confirmed dead

A car in the convoy of Governor Simon Lalong was involved in a ghastly motor accident on Friday afternoon along Mikang town, leaving two police officers attached to the convoy dead.

The incident was said to have occurred on the governor’s return from the Southern senatorial zone to commission several projects initiated by his administration.

Reports suggests that the policemen were hanging precariously on a Hilux van belonging to Operation Rainbow when the driver of the van took a sharp left turn as he navigated a bend. The force of the sharp turn was said to have flung the officers off the vehicle. They landed dangerously rupturing vital organs – thus leading to fatal injuries.

E ye witnesses at the scene say one of the victims died on the spot, while another was seriously injured but died before he could be rushed to the hospital.

The incident was said to have gone virtually unnoticed by the remainder of the convoy, given the speed they were travelling at.

Confirming the accident, the state Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), Deputy Superintendent Abuh Emmanuel however said he has not received details on the incident from the Mikang Divisional Police Officer (DPO).
