Plateau State government has suspended its decision to create grazing reserves. The decision followed intense pressure from stakeholders and youths in the state.
The youths had staged a protest this week at the government house asking the governor to reverse his decision to donate land in some parts of the state for the proposed grazing reserves.
An Executive State Council meeting was immediately convened where the governor announced that he could no longer sustain the decision in view of the backlash the decision suffered. He said it will be suspended until consultations with relevant stakeholders in the state were concluded.
He also said that the government is still consulting with stakeholders on the establishment of ranches to address farmers/herders clashes.
