NSCDC nabs 2 Electric Cable Vandals in Jos

The National Civil Defense Corps Command in Plateau State has arrested two suspected electricity power cable and transformers vandals in Jos.

The two suspects named Salisu Usman and Mr. Jonathan Joseph Okpo, 23 and 27 were caught vandalizing electricity cables and transformer belonging to the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) around Gbwandang community of Bukuru in Jos South Local Government at about 6.20pm.

Addressing Journalist on Friday morning, State Commandant of the Corps Mr. Solomon Olasupo said the suspects decided to seize the opportunity of the end of fasting celebrations to carry out their nefarious activities and were caught with various working implements including hammer, chisels, screwdrivers among others.

Olasupo said in line with the directive of the Commandant General of NCDC Abdullahi Gana Muhammad of having zero tolerance for vandals and economic saboteurs in the Country, the state Command through the vigilant eyes of the operatives and the long arms of the Law caught up with the suspected vandals.

Mr. Olasupo maintained that the suspects will soon be charged to Court as soon as investigations to fetch out those in connection with the crime are concluded.

“Let me seize this opportunity to sound a note of warning to others who may be thinking of making criminal activities their ways of livelihood that Plateau State will be too hot for them, I equally want to appeal to the good people on the Plateau to be vigilant and contact the nearest Civil Defence formation anytime they suspect both usual and unusual movement around any critical infrastructural facilities” He said
