The Afizere community in Tafawa Balew Local Government Area of Bauchi State has expressed gratitude to the Izere people of Plateau State for affirming the selection and appointment of new Agwom Izere the paramount ruler of Jos East Local Government, Reverend Isaac Azi Wakili as First Class status Chief.
Speaking recently on behalf of a high powered delegation of the community led by the District Head of Afi-ayar in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Professor Ashom Maisamari, the community described the emergence of Reverend Isaac Azi Wakili to the stool as a reflection of the will of God.
He said the entire afizere community in Bauchi, Tafawa Balewa and Toro Local Government Areas received the news with great joy.
Professor Ashom said the Izere nation shared the same culture and tradition but only that they were geographically spread, saying “some are found in Tafawa Balewa, Toro others in Jos-East, Jos North and Mangu Local Government Areas”.
He urged the new Agwom Izere not only to concentrate in Jos-East alone but to extend his leadership to the entire Izere localities devoid of local government or state and pray God to grant hied wisdom and long life.
He later donated a beautifully dressed royal horse to the new Agwom Izere. The new Agwom Izere, Reverend Isaac Azi Wakili thanked the Afizere people in Tafawa Balewa for the concern and promised to ensure that the communities were brought together to strategize on how Izere culture would be sustained.
He thanked Governor Simon Lalong for including Naton-Maijuju-Zandi road project in the year 2016 budget, stressing that the road would further enhance economic activities and create better link within his subjects.
