The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has appeal to the Niger Delta Avengers and other allied militant groups in the Country to cease the wanton destruction of oil facilities putting the nation’s economic in comatose.
This appeal was made on Tuesday 23rdAugust 2016 by the Acting President/Convention Chairman, Comr. Prince Miaphen at the NANS national retreat on Nonviolence Peace Building held at the University of Jos Multipurpose Auditorium, Bauchi road campus in Jos.
According to Comr. Miaphen, NANS remain the only largest collection of young active intellectual Nigerians and have identified the saddening truth that young blood are in the forefront of these pointless crisis, violence and destruction that have decimate a greater percentage of our active populace.
“We have identified the incontrovertible facts that development, self-actualization and economic growth cannot flourish in an atmosphere of violence, acrimony and vindictiveness. As young people, we possess the capacity to rise and stem the tides of violence and beyond that build enduring bastions of peace that can withstand any further negative incursions and effortlessly drown same.”
The Acting President/ Convention Chairman pointed that peace is a non-negotiable factor if Nigeria as an entity must rise to attain her place in the committee of nations.
He commended the efforts of the Federal Government for the relative peace being enjoyed particularly in the Northeastern region of the Country and the Plateau State Government for making the state safer than ever before.
