Court in Jos sentence a man to 2 years in prison

A Federal High Court sitting in Jos has sentenced one Kenneth John to 2 years imprisonment for illegal possession of Cannabis sativa on Thursday the 3rd day of November 2016. The Plateau command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA arraigned Kenneth John for illegal possession of 1 kilogram of cannabis Sativa before Justice Dorcas Agishi. Kenneth John was arrested on the 2nd day of August 2016 at Hill Station Hotel Junction Check point in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State. He pleaded guilty to the one count charge of Unlawful possession of Cannabis Sativa contrary to and punishable under section 11 © of the NDLEA Act Cap N30 Laws of the federation of Nigeria 2004 (As Amended). The Prosecuting Counsel, Sarah Oketola Esq tendered the confessional statement of accused, Packing of substance form, request for scientific aid form and the bulk of substance recovered weighing one kilogram, he was convicted as charged. After listening to his lawyer C.B.N Dalang plead in mitigate of sentence, the presiding Judge sentenced him to two years imprisonment without option of a fine.
