Earlier today the today, the Nigerian media was flooded with statement credited to Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi, who claimed the Plateau state Governor lied about the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu’s health.
Governor Simon Lalong has come out to clear the air though a press statement released by his media aide, Samuel Nanle.
DIRECTORATE OF PRESS & PUBLIC AFFAIRS
OFFICE OF THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR, PLATEAU STATE
RE: CLARIFICATION ON THE STATEMENT CREDITED TO HIS EXCELLENCY, RT. HON. SIMON BAKO LALONG, THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR, PLATEAU STATE
His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong, the Executive Governor of Plateau State and the Chairman Ondo State APC Campaign Council has stated that the Statement credit to his person by Senator Tokunbo Afikoyomi was taken out of context.
The Governor said he made the statement in response to the absence of Chief Bisi Akande the Former APC Interim National Chairman, for which he said he was attending to his health out of the country and that the wish of the Party was for his quick recovery. The absence of the National leader of the Party Asiwaju Bola tinubu had been so well explained to the party for which it was not in the place of the Governor to suggest otherwise. The personality of Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu and his contribution to the development of democracy is public knowledge and Nationalistic in all respect.
Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong holds Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu in high esteem and as a National Leader of the Party beyond the South West Region. The Governor added that Senator Afikuyomi therefore, not seek to reduce the relevance of the National Leader of the Party to a Region by alluding that Governor Lalong even as a Campaign Council Chairman appointed by the APC, is not from the South west and is not likely to know anything about the situation surrounding the unavoidable absence of the National leader.
Consequently, Governor Lalong calls on all supporters of APC and the good people of Ondo State to disregard any political distraction that seems to suggest the National leader is not in support of the APC Gubernatorial candidate, and to turn out enmasse on Saturday the 26th November, 2016 to vote for APC Candidate.
