Court in Jos sentence 19 years old to 12 months imprisonment

A Federal High Court Sitting in Jos has on the 7th day of December 2016, sentenced 19 years old Mika Dorbe of Amper in Kanke LGA of Plateau State to 12 months imprisonment for  dealing in 800 grams of Cannabis Sativa.

Mika Dorbe was arrested on the 19th day of September at Kururuwa, Amper in Kanke LGA of Plateau state and arraigned before Justice Dorcas Agishi of the Federal High Court Jos, on the 7th day of December 2016, he pleaded guilty to the two count charge of illegal possession and dealing in 8oo grams of Cannabis sativa similar to Cocaine, Heroin and LSD, contrary to section 20© punishable under, subsection 2 (b) and section 11© of the NDLEA Act Cap N30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2014 (As Ammended). Respectively.

In support of their case, Sarah Oketola Esq, Counsel to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) tendered the Certificate of test analysis, Packing of Substance Form, Request for Scientific Aid form, confessional statement of the accused and 800 grams of Canabis Sativa recovered from Mika Dorbe. Counsel for the acussed  J.M Yuwa did not object to the admissibility.

The presiding Judge after listening to both Counsels submissions and plea, sentenced him to six months and twelve months imprisonment on the first and second count  without option of fine.
