Heipang inland depot to commence activities before the end of the year

Federal Government will partner with the state and the concessionaire towards the completion of the Heipang Container Depot before the end of the year.
The Minister of Transportation, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi said this Friday when he paid a working visit to site in company of Governor Simon Bako Lalong.
According to him, he would love to come and commission the project before July so that the depot will commence activities with a view to employing youths of the state as the depot will not only cater for the North Central zone but the North East geo political zone.
He then said, federal government is desirous of completing remodeling of all Airports which was started, including Yakubu Gowon Airport, Heipang, including the revival of old rail lines across the country.
Speaking at the occasion, Governor Simon Bako Lalong, while thanking the minister for the visit, called on the Federal Ministry of Transportation and Aviation to consider construction of railway from Abuja to Jos to ease transportation of human and goods.
The Governor also pleaded for the resumption of work remodeling of the Yakubu Gowon Airport which is now abandon.
According to the Governor the Inland Container Depot which was started in 2004 when he was the Speaker of state House of Assembly supposed to be completed but the unfortunate problem face during the last administration the project would have been completed.
He then promised to intervene towards its completion. The Governor, the Minister and the Executive Secretary of Nigeria Shippers Council, Barrister Hassan Bello, the concessionaire Dr Godfrey Bawa took a visit round the premises of the Heipang Inland Container Depot.
