PLSG to collaborate with Chartered Institute of Taxation

Plateau State Government is to collaborate with the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria in order to improve the revenue generation of the state.
Governor Simon Lalong gave the indication, when he played host to the President of the institute and Chairman of the council, Dr. Cyril Ede when he paid him a courtesy visit at Government, House, Rayfield, Jos last Wednesday.
The Chartered Institute of taxation of Nigeria was established in 1982 with the mandate to regulate tax profession in the country and also to maintain and regulate the tax standard among its members.
Governor Lalong who was presented by his Deputy, Professor Sonni Tyoden, commended the institute for instituting tax collection offices in various states noting that it was high time for the country to look outside oil and other sources of generating funds.
Lalong then appealed to the institute to create awareness about tax law to enable people pay tax for more developmental projects in the state.
Earlier, National President Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, Dr. Cyril Ede said the institute only out to collaborate with the state government to propagate the issue of tax and ensure that people pay as when due.
Dr. Ede added that the institute was planning to carry out a public enlightenment campaign to secondary schools and stressed the need for training and retraining of the collectors to enable them discharge their duties effectively.
