The chairman, Independent National Electoral commission INEC, Prof.
Mahmood Yakubu has on Friday disclosed the decision of the commission
to extend the collection of PVCs which was earlier
scheduled to end on Friday 6th February to Monday 11th February 2019.
The INEC Boss made the disclosure in Abuja while interacting with
Resident Electoral Commissioners across the country .
Yakubu said the decision of the commission to extend the collection time
was as a result of call from Nigerians to review the current process of
collection of the PVCs in the country.
Adding that the collection will include Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 am
to 6:00 pm daily.
He therefore directed all state offices to review the procedure of the
collection of PVCs and dedicate all the staff of the local government offices
to the collection process.
The commission promised not to disenfranchised any eligible voter on
account of non-collection of PVCs.
He further stated that urgent steps are being taken to address the
complaints of unavailability of the PVCs of some registered voters before
the end of the new deadline for the collection.
According to him , all the uncollected PVCs after the Monday deadline will
be recalled and deposited to the Central Bank of Nigeria till after the
general elections when the Continuous Registration Exercise resumes .
