FG Commits to Smart Education Implementation Across Nigeria


The Nigerian government has reaffirmed its dedication to enhancing smart education in the country, with the commissioning of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) Digital Resource Centre (DRC) in Abuja.

Speaking at the event on Thursday,  the Minister of Education, Prof Tahir Mamman, highlighted the importance of digital technology in education, especially with the development of vocational institutions nationwide.

He said the DRC has already trained over 10,000 teachers and educators in preparation for the launch of 37 Smart Schools across the 36 states and FCT. Mamman emphasised the significance of timely upgrades to ensure quality education delivery.

Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan stressed the need for universal education standards, supporting the DRC’s role in achieving this goal.

She pledged the Senate Committee on Local Content’s collaboration with the centre to fulfill its objectives.

Also, Senator Lawal Adamu praised UBEC for establishing the DRC, recognising its importance in global development.

Meanwhile, the  Executive Secretary, UBEC, Dr Hamid Bobboyi highlighted the centre’s role in providing digital tools for students and teachers, bridging the gap between traditional and modern learning. Stating, “”We envisage a future where every Nigerian child has access to quality education.”.
