Supporting corruption is not Christianity- Osinbajo to Plateau Christians

Vice presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Yemi Osinbajo in an interactive session with the Plateau State Christian leaders said the reason why PDP wants to win at all cost is because they don’t want to be held accountable saying “they pretend that they are fighting for the Christian faith but they are instead fighting change”.

Osinbajo admonishes Christians in the state to be the salt and light of the world according to the scriptures and allow their actions to be governed by Justice and fairness to all.

He warned them to be aware and resist the plan to use religion to deceive them into voting for PDP saying they cannot fight corruption in the guise of protecting their religion.

During an question and answer session, he cleared the air on the notion that the presidential candidate of APC General Buhari is an Islamic fanatic, saying it is a propaganda, “no President of Nigeria has ever attended an OIC meeting until 2015”.

On the alleged agreement he has to relinquishes power toTinubu, Osinbajo said as a learned person who served under the Lagos State Ministry of Justice with an Independent Justice system second to none in this country he said any agreement contrary to public policy is illegal and will not stand.

The event graced by Christian Leaders across the state was graced by APC Christian stakeholders led by the State Gubernatorial Candidate Barr Simon Lalong and his Deputy Prof Sonni Tyoden, State Party Chairman Hon Latep Dabang, Traditional rulers and Women/Youth groups.

Chris Kwaja expresses confidence in INEC

Citizens of Plateau state residents in areas that are yet to be provided with their PVC have been told to use it availability as announce by the chairman national electoral commission to ensure they get their PVCs. State Commissioner for Ministry  of Local Government and  Cheiftancy Affairs Chris Kwaja who spoke with news men in Jos said now that INEC has provided  the PVCs for Jos south citizens, they do not have any reason not to exercise their franchise during the forth coming elections, he commended INEC in ensuring that PVCs are made available stressing that they should not leave any stone unturned to ensure all registered voters in the state participated in the general elections. Kwaja added that chairmen of the 17 local government councils of Plateau state have been directed to liaise with the Electral Empire when necessary with the people at the grace root given their opportunity to vote, he urges Plateau people to continue working towards the peaceful election in the state as only that will guarantee stability in the political atmosphere.

PDP in Plateau State trained its agents in all the 17 LGAs

The people Democratic Party PDP in Plateau state admonishes all it agents for the forth coming election to adheres strictly to party’s ideals to ensure victory in the state, acting chairman of the party Raymond Dabo stated this at a training the trainer workshop organized for some selected members of the party the local government level.

The workshop brought together zonal officials, Chairmen, secretaries and organizing secretaries of the People Democratic party from the 17 local government areas of the state. Addressing participants, state acting chairman of the party Raymond Dabo commended them of their prompt response and disclosed that the workshop is the fall out of the training organized by the international republican institute held in Abuja. Dabo pointed out that the state working committee of the PDP allowed candidate to generate their agencies in the interest of fair play and warn that the process most not be abused. He noted that all the party agents must be literate to achieved the desired result. State organizing secretary of the PDP Michael Dachom prevailed on the participants to be more attentive so as to pass the knowledge acquired to the agents at the grace roots, Dachum who taught the participants through various sections expresses hope that the goals of the workshop will be attained.

Jega denied being under pressure

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Atahiru Jega has denied the allegation that he is under pressure to resign, Jega said this at a town hall meeting organized by the media and some stake holders in Abuja. The INEC boss said the protest calling for his resignation by some group will not deterred the commission’s delivery of a free and fair election to Nigerians. Jega who said the commission has put in place measures to prevent multiple voting during the election stresses that the time laps between activation and voting is aim at restricting movement of voters from one pulling unit to the other and ensuring that people will not vote more than once . The INEC boss blame political parties for failing in their responsibilities in sensitizing the public on the need for them to collect their PVC Saying they are also stake holders in the electoral process.

 

COCIN PRESIDENT COMMISSIONS MISSIONARIES TO EAST AFRICA

The COCIN President, Rev. Dr. Dachollom Datiri, has called on members of the Church to rise up to the challenge of sponsoring missionaries home and abroad.

He made the call recently at the COCIN headquarters Church in Jos while commissioning three missionaries to Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda to pioneer the mission work in these East African countries.

According to the President, this is the second time the Church is sending missionaries to other countries and the Church spends over N9 million every year on overseas missions apart from the United Kingdom where they spends about N11 million.

He further called on the new missionaries to be true ambassadors of the Church and to be committed to the work in their respective countries of assignment.

The COCIN Vice President, Rev. Dr. Obed Dashan, who gave the message during the service, stressed the importance of the Holy Spirit in the work of missions.

According to him, the Holy Spirit is the one that leads people who are being commission into missions.

“When the Holy Spirit is present in worship, there will be no evil politics except the politics that convicts sinners”.

The missionaries that were commission alongside their families were Rev Jerry Audu (Kenya), Rev. Solomon Dawer Dabang (Tanzania) and Rev Dung John Dayuru (Uganda).

There were goodwill messages from the Chairman COCIN Board of Trustees, Rev. Dr. Alexander Lar and the CAN Chairman Plateau State Rev. Dr. Soja Bewarang.

NOUN Jos Chapter matriculated 1,000 students

The Jos open center for national open University has matriculated over 1,000 students for the 2014-2015 academic section addressing the students vice chancellor of the institution Vincent Tenabe said the institution has become a house hold name and a pace setter in the 21 century.

The newly matriculated students took oaths to make their final acceptance in to the national Open University Jos study center. Addressing the student prof. Tanabe reminded them that the matriculation just a gate way making the beginning of training in to their different programs noted that it is not a warranty for graduation and called on them to study hard. Represented by the director Jos study center Isaac Putwad, the vice chancellor assured them of quality education adding that the institution is to partner with other open distant learning institutions across the world. The director of the Jos study center of Nigeria has won the students not to engage in social vices stressing that the any one find wanting will be penalized .Some of the matriculated students too express gratitude for the opportunity given to them and promise to abide by the lay down rules and regulations.

Titus Alams interschool debate competion has a new winner

A winner has march in the 2nd annual Titus Alams inter secondary school debate competition for secondary schools in Bokkos local government area. The competition which was held at the directorate office conference hall Bokkos saw Christ Apostolic church college Kuba slotting it out with government secondary school Munguna in the grand finale.

The topic for this year’s grand finale is ‘secondary school debate competition is the negative rather than the positive influence in youth’, GSS Manguan propose while Christ Apostolic church Kuba opposed the motion. The organizers said the debate is aimed at bringing students within the constituency together to share and exchange ideas. Sponsor of the annual event and speaker of the house Assembly of the Plateau state, Hon Titus Alams said education advance the society adding that he is proud to be associated with the people of Bokkos particularly in the area of education, Alams strongly emphasize the need for both parents and students to give more attention to educational need of the children particularly English language subject and assured of transforming all primary schools in his constituency by 2019 if he will elected the speaker.  Alams also use the forum to present his score card and appeal to his constituency to be patient with the present administration particularly the civil servants over the delay of their payment sin their salary which he noted is not deliberate but due to the financial challenge in the country.

There were good well messages from the Saf Ron Kulere, Chairman Bokkos Local Government Council, Zonal Director Ministry of Education central zone, Pankshin education secretary, Bokkos local government education area all applauded the speaker for sponsoring the debate and assured of their support in sustaining the initiative. The 1st price of educational material worth 100,000 went to Christ Apostolic church Kuba with government secondary school Manguna 2nd and got educational material worth 50,000 while the 3th price went to Nation Academic with 20,000 worth educational mate

 

PDP youths in Bassa assured Hon Chris Hassan of their votes

With general election around the corner, the People’s Democracy Party PDP in Plateau state has continue to consolidate on record of achievement into secure victory at the poll. This was reiterated by Hon Chris Hassan who is seeking to represent Jos North Bassa constituency in the national assembly at a youth forum in Kwall, Bassa LGA.

Addressing a mammoth crowd at Kwall, Chairman youth forum Samuel Shehu noted that the group which consist of vibrant political action in Kwal saw the need to set up a plan to further boost the chances of the candidate in the locality and the PDP as a party. Council Chairman of Bassa, David Racha equally confirmed the strength of PDP in Bassa and the unity of political actors in the area which he noted is a good sign of victory for the party in the locality. Coordinator of Goodluck/Sambo ticket in the Northern zone, Sunday Audu observed with delight the large turnout of the people on the occasion which he noted is a good development. Similarly member representing Rukuba constituency in the state house of Assembly, Ado Adere was emphatic on the support PDP has in the locality which he said is occasioned by the dividend of Democracy and the hope for more to come.

Responding, Hon Chris Hassan drew the attention of the supporters of the PDP in the locality to be friendly and embracing towards the opposition no matter what as according to him by such they will win them over. He also caution them against what he term selective voting in the forth coming general election and encourage them to vote PDP throughout.
